Wylfa Newydd New Nuclear National Grid 400kV North Wales Connection

The National Grid North Wales Connection is a proposed 400kV electricity transmission line between new nuclear generation at Wylfa Newydd on the Isle of Anglesey to an existing National Grid substation in North Wales at Pentir.  The connection includes a combination of overhead lines, tunnel, lattice pylons and associated compounds. 

 
Principal Planning and Consenting Ltd provided professional support during the evolution of the project and up to point of DCO hearings. Main support activities included:

The National Grid North Wales Connection Project is on-hold and has been withdrawn from DCO Hearings. NSIP DCO Kent
National Grid 400kV Richborough Connection, Kent 

The National Grid Richborough Connection is a new 400kV electricity transmission line between Richborough and Canterbury in Kent, connecting the UK to a new Belgian sub-sea high voltage interconnector link (known as Nemo Link www.nemo-link.com).

 
Principal Planning and Consenting Ltd provided professional support throughout the evolution of the project and up to formal grant of development consent. Main support activities included:

Energy from Waste and Energy Park, Northeast England - Application for Development Consent
 

Principal Planning and Consenting Ltd provided professional support to a consultancy in Northeast England preparing an application for development consent for an Energy from Waste scheme, incorporating an Energy Park. Main responsibility included drafting of the Planning Statement in support of Development Consent Order application made to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. 

Infrastructure Planning Road Access
Highway Access, Wiltshire - Planning Application and Appeal
 

Successful grant of planning consent achieved following appeal to the Planning Inspectorate. Services provided included initial planning advice, preparation and coordination of planning application, speaking appearances at two local authority planning committees and subsequent preparation and coordination of planning appeal. 

 

This project raised landscape impact, highway safety and character issues. All matters were resolved to the satisfaction of the examining inspector, who agreed with our professional asseessment, granting consent and deciding in favour of the applicant.
